Making Of
Making of Davis Street
After my post “Davis Street” at CGarchitect forum, they've invited me to present a "making of" article about the scene. I would like to Thank CGarchitect for this opportunity.
There are no secrets about the buildings, so I´ll not spend time on it
instead I’ll focus on street, materials, modeling, and lighting and render settings.
So let´s do it.
As we can see in the image below the surface of the street is big, So I had to separate it into two parts:
The first plan and the second plan, So I was able to use two types of materials. 1st plan (high quality map) – 2nd plan (Low Quality map).
Here we have an another surface underneath the street and I have put grass and land materials on it.
Here, we can see a displacement map that goes to the street when it is turned on.
It will appear as grass and land by the corner of the rail.
Finally, we have to focus on texture, light and render.
Here I used the same material, mixing it with a darker material.
There are the maps of Reflect and Rglossiness.
Now let's use the material we have just created and blend them with other materials for reflection, making the effect of water.
Lighting
As we see below I have used 4 elements.
As shown in the screenshot below, I have used levels to adjust the street, and color balance in the overall picture. I also blacked out some parts that were not pleasing me.
Adjusted contrasts here in just a few building.
Here I used the nik plugins.
Hope you guys liked it, it´s always good to share knowledge with you.
