The Making of Day/Night Shot Explosion
Inspired by the work of Factory Fifteen's winning entry from last year's CGarchitect 3dawards, Peter Ramirez creates a unique piece entitled Day Shot Explosion and Night Shot Explosion.
Photoshop Progress Shots
I opened all of the render elements in Photoshop, then added a Curves adjustment layer to each layer.
For each render element I changed the blending mode and decreased the opacity.
After I changed all of the render elements, I added the backgrounds, skies and buildings and then flattended the image.
I changed the color balance of the entire image towards blue and added some diffuse glow.
Next I added changed the color balance to add yellow and red, also with diffuse glow.
Add a layer mask to each layer.
In the final step I added some fog to the image.
For the night shot the steps are the same, howver the color balance changes are a little different with diffuse glow.

Textures Used for the Day Shot
In the explosion process I used a Space Warp -> Geometric/Deformable -> Choose Bomb. The models I used to create the bomb are from other personal works.
