The Boundary’s mission is to evoke emotion through imagery. Using proprietary technology and IP, The Boundary creates virtual reality (“VR”) experiences, short films, animations, and photo-realistic imagery to bring plans to life for architects and property developers.
Founded in 2014, The Boundary has rapidly gained an international reputation as a leading ArchVis studio, working with world-renowned architects including Renzo Piano, Tadao Ando, and Foster + Partners, on some the world’s most prestigious projects, including The Waldorf Astoria Hotel redevelopment in New York. Excellence in the architectural sector has enabled the business to roll its services into new sectors, including luxury automotive and eCommerce. Mobeus has agreed to provide acquisition facilities to support significant international growth.
Supported by Mobeus, The Boundary will leverage its leading position in ArchVis services globally investing in sales and marketing, the creative team and technology; and continuing to bring VR experiences and photorealistic content to new sectors. Mobeus introduced investing Chairman Andrew McGuiness as part of the deal. McGuiness has a strong track record growing creative agencies and was formerly CEO of TBWA and Freuds and co-founded two agencies: Beattie McGuinness Bungay and Seven Dials.
The transaction was sourced through Mobeus’s direct origination activities and was led by Dominic Draysey, Mobeus Investment Manager, who worked with Partner Chris Price and Investment Analyst George Chatzimanolis on the deal. Mobeus Partner Justin Maltz will join the board.
Dominic Draysey, Investment Manager, says, “We are hugely impressed by the exceptional client base that the team has attracted, which is a testament to the quality of work that The Boundary delivers. Henry and Peter are pioneers in architectural visualisation, which, when aligned with Tom’s commercial skills creates a very compelling growth opportunity. We are really excited to be backing them and supporting their organic and acquisitive growth aspirations over the coming years.”
Mobeus was advised by Freeths (Legals), Plural Strategies (Commercial DD), DSW (Financial DD), and Grant Thornton (Tax). The Boundary was advised by Green Square, (Lead Advisory), Lee & Thompson (Legals) and Parisi (Tax).
