Create Beautiful 3D Cities with the Tech behind Man of Steel’s Metropolis
CityEngine is the tool of choice for 3D urban environment content for movies, games, and commercials, analysis, and visualization. Don’t waste time modeling hundreds or even thousands of buildings and streets by hand. Using CityEngine's rule-based modeling, an arbitrary number of buildings can be created automatically from a set of rules describing building types. Thanks to these procedural modeling techniques, a city model can remain flexible throughout the production process. Professionals modeling 3D Cities turn to CityEngine to maximize time and investment where manual 3D modeling would otherwise be too costly. Once your 3D City Model is complete, exporting to third party modeling software, rendering or game-engine of choice is simple using python, the CityEngine SDK, traditional 3D formats, or E-on Software’s LumenRT plugin for Geodesign.

Join us for a closer look at how Procedural Modeling can benefit your 3D production pipeline.
The highlights of the webinar are:
• Creating Realistic, Futuristic, and Fantasy Cities in 3D • Real-World CityEngine Case Studies • Procedurally modeling urban environments • Harnessing Existing City Data to automate the 3D City Modeling Process • The New Features for the upcoming CityEngine 2013 release • How to share 3D city scenes in the browser (WebGL)
Also in this webinar Eric Brady from Bergmann Associates will present how The City of Rochester NY has engaged Bergmann Associates to provide planning and 3D Technology support for the Center City Master Plan update process. 3D technology offers a unique format to make concepts and designs tangible and expressive. By developing virtual models of the City’s priority development sites, city officials, residents and stakeholders can visualize the impact of a range of development densities and styles within a realistic, 3D representation of the Center City area. The use of Esri’s City Engine procedural building modeling rules allowed the Planning Department to visualize the City’s Form Based Zoning Code, with specific attributes such as massing, set-back, glazing, entryways, materials and height all represented as 3D modeled structures. The City will be advancing this technology in the future for use in the review and approval process of new development. A developer will be asked to include a digital 3D model during site plan review that will be viewed with the Center City 3D model, providing staff, the Planning Commission and the public with a realistic representation of the project as part of the existing urban context.
