2019 Architectural Visualization Rendering Engine Survey - RESULTS

The 2019 Architectural Visualization Rendering Survey is an update from our 2018 survey and the original Rendering Survey conducted on CGarchitect.com in 2016.

Responses were gathered between January 10, 2019 and March 14, 2019 via CGarchitect’s community (social media & email newsletter) and through Facebook groups and software forums associated with real-time engines and architectural visualization.  A total of 8,750 responses were received collectively through all of channels, including students.  The results below exclude students responses (669) to only account for professional usage.

For the purposes of Margin of Error calculations and market calculations, we are assuming a total market size of 150,000 people that are involved specifically in AEC visualization/rendering. Unless otherwise noted, the results have a Margin of Error of 1% with a Confidence Level of 95%.

Margin of Error of 2% with a Confidence Level of 95%

I think I need to start testing new rendering tools. Thanks for the list!
hi all, very good survey on render engine trending today. i am also working in Unreal Engine for cinematic and realtime interactive. so much time saving and freedom to do interactive is bonus.
Interesting to see the strides Lumion is making in the industry (rightfully so) with it being used more than unreal and experimented with more than VRAY RT. Good Survey, Thanks
Id guarantee its entirely down to a) architects not having the technical knowledge to use Unreal rught out of the box as you can with Lumion and b) lumion being in the field alot longer. Id bet top dollar that Unreal will eclipse Lumion in the next 5 years due to the amount of artists learning it at the moment.
Would be nice to see a survey of modeling software used too, to get a better picture of the entire archviz pipeline.
Thank Jeff for this great effort, this is a very good info. Now it would be good also to see a little about the people who voted, You mentioned you simplified to only Professionals, but it would be good to know how they spread around the globe.
We have all of that info, but I'm not sure how much of this we will be publishing. It's a reflection of the industry demographics we always see. 25-35% AEC, 25-35% Arch Viz Studios 20% Freelancers and 15% Students approx. This is the industry makeup we've seen for many years and this survey does not deviate.
OK, thanks for the info.
