Photoshop 2025: What's New?

One of the standout features is the Distraction Removal Tool, powered by Adobe’s Firefly Image Model. This tool allows users to effortlessly eliminate unwanted elements, such as wires, cables, and even people, from their images. The process is straightforward, with options to use automatic AI assistance or manual adjustments for fine-tuning.

Another significant update is the Generative Fill feature, which facilitates the filling of selected areas with content generated by AI. While it performs well for simpler tasks, results can be inconsistent when dealing with complex subjects like human figures. The tool also includes a “Generate Similar” option, enabling users to refine their selections and produce results that closely match their initial output.

Photoshop 2025 enhances the capability to modify backgrounds, particularly useful for product visualizations. Users can now create or change backgrounds quickly, although the realism of the generated images may vary.

The Generative Workspace allows users to enter prompts, upload reference images, and generate multiple variations for quick comparisons. While this feature is promising, it is still in beta and shows room for improvement in terms of realism.

The Substance 3D Viewer enables the importation of 3D files, allowing users to edit them as smart objects. This tool supports adding colors and materials to 3D models and even generating 3D models from text prompts. This feature, while simplifying the process of creating graphics, may not offer the same level of control as traditional methods.

Photoshop 2025 focuses heavily on integrating AI-driven tools to streamline creative processes, positioning itself as a competitive choice in the 2D graphics software landscape. The advancements are designed to help artists and designers enhance their workflows, making image editing and manipulation more efficient.
