This set of images represents a kind of contemporary version of “Casa das canoas”, a heritage house in Brazil designed by Oscar Niemeyer. This building is collapsing nowadays due to lack of maintenance, a project that besides its cultural importance, means a lot to me because was the first example of architecture that I studied back when I was starting my journey on this path of trying to understand human habitats. I decided to create this visual reinterpretation and add these different aesthetics with the idea to maybe bring more attention to what’s going on with this building, didn’t mean to disrespect the amazing modernist original interior design, but maybe if people see things that are trendy nowadays in its finishes and furniture, new conversations are going to be encouraged about its importance and why this beautiful masterpiece needs to be preserved.
