This is a project in partnership with Alexandru Ciubotaru
Situated in a Southern Brazilian town, our design represents a modern adaptation of the region's traditional architecture. And the project title takes its inspiration from those areas.
The main elements of the architecture, such as the sloping roofs, the patterned perforated bricks, and the choice of materials, harmoniously merge the house with its surroundings, serving a novel purpose - a more imaginative one!
The house becomes an expansive canvas. The landscape alongside with the architecture act as brushes. And the nature itself takes on the role of the artist.
The ever-changing shadows become living paintings: delicate square patterns in the morning, vibrant linear patterns at midday, unique floral patterns in the afternoon, and soft moon patterns through the roof skylight during the night.
The bedroom's morning shadows shaped by the architectural elements, gradually transform under the influence of the landscape. And by midday they would have evolved into more intense and diverse shaped patterns.
The living room, occupying a prominent space in the design, employs large and meticulously designed openings to mold the incoming light, casting linear and dynamic shadow patterns.
The dining area incorporates distinctive ornaments, creating an ambiance that accompanies us on an international culinary journey.
To introduce a touch of drama to our experience, the kitchen walls are left with a raw concrete finish. The only decorative element is a paint that reminds of the colors found on local architecture. Additionally, during the shorter days of cold seasons, this serves as a perfect backdrop, allowing the natural winter garden vegetation to paint itself upon the walls.
As night falls, the skylights bathe the interior in a magical blue luminosity, creating a much needed tranquil atmosphere.
