photograph I took a few years ago. Maybe that's why it spoke to me. A lot more difficult to capture this type of lighting in CG though.
Preach it brother! I agree completely, but then again I picked this VPOTW. :) I was reviewing some of the 3dawards entries today and saw a video with a quote from Tadao Ando that mirrors your thoughts (and mine) on the merits of this piece. "..The creation of space in architecture is simply the condensation and purification of the power of light" Granted there is no architecture in this piece, but the control of the light and atmosphere is fantastic IMHO. It just occurred to me that it reminds me of aJonny Allen

We got criticised / slammed last year for our entries in the 3d awards not being of an architectural nature. The light is lovely but where is the architecture? I personally want CGArchitect to branch out to being more spatial and not focussed so much on 'real' buildings but more about spaces and atmospheres - that is what being a computer generated architect is all about no. That is what this image does, I just wish this forum and this community was more consistent and open minded.

I've tried, it isn't easy. It's always the tree bark that gets me. Seems like texturing a tree would be pretty easy but it just never turns out photo real for me.
Nice work to the creator.
