A “green garden house” is being built in Würzburg – that was the name of the winning design by architects Hofmann-Keicher-Ring and the project could not be better summed up. Green facades, sustainable building materials and all around lush foliage and the grounds of the former State Garden Show. Together with the Technical University of Munich, an environmentally friendly construction concept was developed and everything, right down to the flowering sequence of the open space planting, was tailored to the needs of nature. The result is impressive: energy-efficient living in a thoroughly “green” building concept and yet the future residents do not have to compromise on comfort in terms of amenities.
