On the site of the former Nordstern coal mine, the so-called "New Boiler Room" complements the central campus with a 120m long office block for the company VIVAWEST.
While the ground floor is embedded in the dynamic topography as a closed base, a glass space, named "Flöz" by the architects, forms the continuously open main floor, linking the new building with the existing buildings via bridges and forms the starting point for a programmatic reorganization of the building complex. The color of the new building takes up the exterior design of architect Fritz Schupp's historic coal mine building and translates it into contemporary materials.
