Ferriss d2 challenge
A CG comic strip that has won the d2challenge Hugh Ferriss + Droquis. A specific contest promoted by the d2 Conference on Hugh Ferriss. We combined a typical Comic City, like Gotham, created by Bob Kane and directly inspired by Ferriss's work, with the charcoal techniques and lighting used in Metropolis of Tomorrow's famous book.
After produced the CGI, we digital painted with three types of brushes:
- the first that simulates graphite for mid-tones;
- the second one that simulates charcoal for the dark parts;
- the final one, a brush to scratch and broke the sharp lines of the rendering.
It follows a preliminary study we did before starting the image-making.
