Kuwait National Day, 2061: Envisioning a progressive, peaceful and prosperous Kuwait celebrating 100 years of independence. In the distance, the newly renovated Kuwait Towers bask in the warm evening glow, dwarfed by the epic skyline of the Silk City in the distance. In the left foreground stands brand new Middle-East Headquarters of the United Nations, housed in a dramatic building that merges history and modernity. Its architecture pays homage to cultural traditions with ornamental Islamic motifs, while embracing the future with large wind-turbines, green-roof and solar technology, signifying Kuwait’s ascent towards being a global leader in ecological sustainability.
Spectators enjoy fireworks from the beach while admiring beautiful floating lotus-like objects on the water that harness marine power, generating energy from the kinetic motion of waves crashing on the shore. An elegant bridge connects the land to a crystalline, sleek glass Cultural Heritage Museum whose dramatic cantilevers house a host of cultural artifacts from Kuwait’s rich history along with a series of lush tropical greenhouses. Silent electric transportation vehicles, from futuristic cars to mechanized robotic walkers, gracefully glide along the pristine highway infrastructure that ties this vast urban plan together, connecting mainland Kuwait to major tourism hubs on Bubiyan and Failaka islands.
This lucid dream seeks to pave the way for a dazzling future for Kuwait, synthesizing cultural traditions with the advancements of modern civilization.
