thanks, i'm glad you do, any comments about it? cheers
i love the light bulbs!
it is a reference to the prestige, that inspired me because the contest is sponsored by an electrical supply company, you got it! I'll be researching to make better materials, thanks for your comments
Reminds me of the Prestige. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_eCeLBv5lJdg/TETEoZ8vtEI/AAAAAAAACOY/rELmg4ANyI8/s1600/theprestigepic.jpg The overall architecture of the structure looks nice, but I agree that you need to work on your materials.

Thanks for the comments, unfortunately the image is already submitted and in contest, but i'll treasure your comments and use them the next time. Light bulbs are actually modelled completely, but i couldn't give the glow to the filament so i used vray lighmat in the glass directly. The goal never was to achieve 100% photoreal, it was more like dream like. Removing exterior light bulbs is out of the question because they are part of the story. I think all the light bulbs were the ones that mess up lighting, we should only see the filaments as you say, the glow is canceled by environment light. But i wanted to keep the glow and neglected about making it night hours. Thank you very much, soon i'll post the second image of the series to see if you like it more. Cheers
if its about teh light bulbs you need to model them - filaments and all! it will look 100% better if you bother to model them. light is still very weird! i think you should start with just the ambient and adjust that -get it right - then turn on sets of lights one by one until you get the right mix between natural and artificial. you could even render each set separately and mix between them in post for more control - jsut screen them together. some more specular and reflectivity and detail in your maps would also really help
lighting is still weird, i think all the light sources you have in the image is killing the depth and shadow. It looks flat and hazy. I suggest you loose the exterior light bulbs and change the POV, you'll never get a photo-real image with your camera floating 8ft above the ground. Also i think you need to work on your materials they look a little low res. It could have real potential tho....keep going!
So the new one attached with more contrast didn't work either? or the original? Thank for your comments
Ah now, I wasn't getting the light bulb thing fully till you explained it. Now it makes since though. Lighting still looks little unbalanced but its still a good idea. John
Something more to add?
The idea (redundant) was that it is just time for you go home and all this happens (office hours over). Maybe you were mind blocked all day, or just had a hyper productive day. I was experimenting and found out that contast of colors interesting. You have to notice that every image in the contest did the same kitchen/living room/ dinner table image, i wanted to do something different, kind of dreamy, i tried to give an extra story to the submission. But maybe it is very hard to understand, many think about energy usage hahah. But that's not the point. Have you voted today? I need all your support. Cheers
I like the light bulb idea. I think your image would be much stronger though if the time of day was night time when the bulbs could really shine (pun intended). The contrast between the blue hues of the night time and the warms of the lightbulbs and office interior has a lot of potential IMO. It would work with your images narrative too. Burning the mid-night oil in the office ideas popping up all around. Juct my 2c. E
The light bulb IS the idea, pretty simple. The contest is sponsored by and electric features company. Do the math
I don't quite get the idea of the light bult.
More critics? I need your support too
Hey people, can you vote for me, look here i've been published in a e-mag: http://bit.ly/aiJubm I need your support. The thing is to keep voting till December 31th. c'mon cgarchitects show me some love
naaa you don't buy it? I've attached a more sharper and contasted version
Ok, but are you aware that sky is overcasted?
So you have to raise the contrast, because the shadows have been almost disappeared.
