Yes that may be the case too. for such a close render you should use a high resolution texture. :)

Thanks for your response. When I do the math again, it realize the wood is probably not high enough res for the render size. Also, the bump is there, but it is perhaps not enough?

Nice modeling, nice texture work, also nice composition. however the close shot you took for it is little too much. because wood texture resolution is not that good I think. or may be bump map is missing.
