Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Here are the steps I did for this photomontage: 1. Took the photo J 2. Next step is to take care of the reflections. So I took 180-panoramic photo from the building spot. Then I made selection of the sky, made an alpha channel and put the panorama to cylinder object in max. The best solution here would be to take a HDRI and use both for reflection and GI, but I was unable to do that, because on the building place there were many objects I had to remove. 3. Check the focal length of the image in 35mm equivalent. You should find your conversion factor to multiply the focal length in the EXIF info. The factor could be 1x, as my camera, so what is in the EXIF can be used in MAX. 4. In the best situation you would have the exact position from where you took the photo and the match would be easy, but in mine I only had the height of the camera position. In both cases you need precise street model of the real one. I also built rough mesh of the surrounding buildings (I took the plan and the height from the city plan) so they can help me too match the view. The match I did by eye and considering the height of the camera position. 5. Then I render roughly and made small photomontage preview just to check if I had 100% perspective match. Of course there were some differences and I had to refine the vertical shift. 6. Since I don’t had HDRI of the place I had to adjust the same light. I used VRaysky with CIE Overcast. Also I used Color Correction to match the sky color. 7. I rendered the image. The surrounding buildings were set to be Not Visible to camera, because I don’t had the real shape of them and they could hide some visible parts of the buildings. Also I gave real material to the road, because I intended to apply its’ reflection pass to the photo. 8. Next step and the most boring one to me was to cut what’s not visible of the building on the photo in the post. 9. To match furthermore the color of the CG and the photo I also took the sky from the photo, blurred it and put it over the CG with Overlay blending mode 60% opacity. The same I did for the road of the photo because it wasn’t reflective enough to me J This is the way I did it. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Thank you again!
Simply amazing!!!
K
nice image.
hello, you made it. I can't believe that this one is photomontage. Great job. keep it up...
H
stunning image, It's really hard to tell what part is a render. Also love that mood, good to have a client that doesn't want it all to be super sunny.
It looks great but I would check your camera settings; the lens you're using is starting to bend that vertical wall segment on the building on the left too much.
Amazing .. perfect .... like the mood
Very nice Svetlin.
V.Nice job. If you want feedback, the image feels uncomfortable with no traffic one side of the road, but one side very busy. Trivial maybe but hope its of use.
This looks soo good.. the mundane weather adds to the realism. Great job.
nice work on the photmontage!
Excellent work svetlin.. I can't even tell which part is 3d and which part is not :-)
Hi deathdog1986! Thank you! I will write basic steps of our photomontage process later . Thank you again!
I am not well acquainted with the workflow involved in making Photomontages. Can u give me some tips regarding the same.
Brilliantly done.
Hi PuffinViz. 10x I mention the weather, because here all clients want mostly sunny images and we just gone lucky with this client. Very thankful for that :-)
wow very nicely blended, lighting is spot on. I quite like the cloudy weather, but then in England im used to it...
