Lumion is a software which actually acts using a Game Engine type algorithm. It's all about real time 3d generation just like games. The animation i posted is a demo reel to understand the usage of Lumion's atmosphere and effects of environment i.e sunlight, water, god-rays, vegetation and birds n people even. The Dock and the duplex was a very very quick model making - in max - just to provide an architectural massing essense in the scene to understand it's potential as an ArchViz Animation software. The materials ar a bit blurry and not clear - but i've done another render and on that the materials are excellent. All it takes some time and care to setup the scene, materials and atmosphere as well as a well designed superstructure to focus on. I use a Radeon HD5770 gfx card and it's pretty cool for playing games. And i was amazed to see - rendering a animation in 1280*720 (720p HD) in medium quality takes only 0.45sec per frame. The animation i attatched took only 20mins to render and the scene took 3 hours to set. When u are doing the final render of the movie in 720p but High Quality 2.5+ secs per frame is the time scale. The same thing happens on 1080p Medium Quality render (or close). But the monster 1080p High Quality takes about 7-8 seconds per frame (sometimes 10-12....or even 20+ depending on the polygon count and effects). All these calculations are done using my Radeon HD 5770 1GB DDR5 card. I bet a more powerful card can give much more performance boost (say a nVidia GTX580 or a Radeon HD 6970) So far i noticed this software still has some issues with ATI based gfx cards like animated people movement and vehicle color changing. Lumion developers are already trying to fix them on their next release. I must say - this software is truely amazing. Easy to use. Easy to handle. Less Buggy then it's rival "TwinMotion". I bet the 2nd version (aka Lumion 2) will be a blast. @ nanasba13 - yah....the water effect is cool in this soft....but....all it was needed a little foam effect on the shoreline.........it could be the blockbuster........:D
It is very easy, almost ridiculous and it renders at about 2.59 fps depending on the quality settings. I am playing around with it too in my spare time but cannot get its full potential due to lacking graph. card, as its RT. Also it has a lot of things that need to be fixed which the developers say will come in service packs along the way. I agree it has potential! P.s. The water is amazing!
I assume the house and dock were your own models (imported from Max)? Also, what was the animation's total render time? Not including your learning curve, how much time would you say it took to set this scene up? This software's got some potential.
It is lumion3d's own atmosphere.....and effects are created tweaking the fog and cloud shadow levels as well the sky and sun brightness.....:).....entire setting is based on a sinle sunlight produced by Lumion's weather generator.
which light use for this rendering.
