There's dirt in the planter. The view is just too low for it to be seen (who wants to look at dirt?). In addition, the planter has no holes in the bottom. I solved the drainage issue but filling the bottom of the unit with large aggregate (ie big stones, sand, pieces of cracked bricks). I figured the volume was large/deep enough to do this. It worked last summer. The rocks and stones helped me keep the COM low in the wooden versions. Thanks for the reply.

Nice scene - I would add some dirt to the planter to show that the ivy is "potted". I thought, maybe a little water underneath to show a drainage system - but that would probably make the prototype look like it had malfunctioned. Hehe
