The snow is modelled from a single plane, tessellated in the areas with the most detail, using soft selection to pull the vertices until the general shape was achieved and then using Vray diplacement and a displacement map created in photoshop to get the right dents and impressions - just a simple UVW planar map applied to the area in the foreground. Additional detail was added in photoshop - but the bulk of it was achieved in Max.

Beautiful light! How did you manage to do the snow so realistic? Did you use any 3ds Max plug-in such as "Let it snow" or something like that or did you model it yourself?
