Use a displacement map to give the roof shingles relief. I work with 3DS Max and VRay and apply the VrayDisplacementMod modifier to the roof and add my displacement map to that. If you are not using Max or VRay you should be able to add displacement maps to your roof shingle materials in most 3D programs. Works great for anything that needs high relief while using a low polycount. Often takes a lot of adjusting to get the right look. Make sure your displacement map texture is very clean with little to no noise(use bump maps for low frequency noise),and you will get a sharp displacement between the shingles. Use a gradient from black to white for the gradual angle/slope between shingle rows.

Would you be so kind as to assist in telling
me how you model your roof tiling. I am battling
with that, mine is always a flat texture , yours looks great
