The buildings seem divided by a courtyard which forces the approaching public to interact. As a person passes through the courtyard, either to enter the lobby or courtyard passage towards the campus, the fenestrated surroundings and the exhibition space give an awareness to the cause. On the upper levels, the building links itself around the courtyard and becomes whole again. The structure is steel, a strong and flexible material, while the glazing ensures a less rigid seeming program. The steel structure and sheer walls provide a stable structure that lends itself a flexible program, providing to many needs between NGO’s, polititians, voulunteers, and Catholic University of America.
