Oh, one other thing. BVI you're going to regret being helpful to me lol What did you use to create your grass with? Or are the daisies all PS'd in?
:) Ah, anytime. No, the planting is all 3D. The ground cover is just a patch that we duplicate and then multiply around the grass and then drop it to the surface. We wrote a tutorial here: http://www.burnstudio.co.za/blog/landscaping-using-scripts/ The page formatting is messed up for some reason (which I plan to fix this December).

That was done in post, with Light Knoll: http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/products/all/knoll-light-factory-ps/ I'm using an ancient version of it, but it still works nicely - you can achieve the same result with some PS magic, but Light Knoll is easier. The ivy was done with Thomas Luft's Ivy Generator http://www.guruware.at/ - we grew some if it and used premade patches of it for general areas - there are lots of generators, but this one works for us.
Thanks for the tip - tried out both programs and love them both!
Wow, lots of posts in a short amount of time. I think these images are great like i said before, though slight more tweaking and could be brilliant and could go towards viz of the week. Though I do believe if you are going to criticize someone's work, you should always counter act bad points with good points just to even it out. No one likes a barrage of negativity thrown at them. Are you planning to tweak these images BVI or do you have to move on to another project (nothing worse than not having the time to take comments into account.)
Hey Andrew, Thanks for the kind words. I'd love to spend more time on the images, we did this in 3 days, including the modelling; so a few extra days to make it awesome would be wonderful. I have made a list of all the comments and we may revisit this one again :)

Oooh hand bags at dawn.
:) Prada Doll.

It would be great if we could push a button and hear the crits. Perhaps the condescending sarcasm is just how I hear it my head when I read it and is not intended that way at all... perhaps?
As a side note, the sun coming over the trees, is that all done in post? Kind of a nice surreal flavor to it - would like to know how you did it! Also, what program do you use to make your ivy? I'm looking for something similar. Thanks!

Hi All, I see this thread is getting lots of love, to clarify: My intial negative comment "I don't think the images are that successful" was in response to BVI's initial statement "the renders came out nicely as well" plus four following positive comments, which I feel were not correct. I was voicing my opinion in reference to what was written. Also the thread title was mistranslated, I thought there would be awesome renders.. but...Awesome House, adequate renders. I don't think my comments were too harsh, yes they were negative, but i explained what I thought was wrong with the images. I suppose the level of harshness can be subjective, but there is not point to beating round the proverbial bush. Anyway keep up the hard work BVI and I look forward to seeing/ and commenting on future projects. Oh yes and I havn't forgotten about posting a project some images. Will do as soon as I get back to work. C
You are welcome to your opinion, however, these were successful as my client was happy with the images and his client was also happy with the result. Ill pay your comments attention when you post some of your own work and have more than three measly posts to your name.
Oooh hand bags at dawn. True though.
Even if you don't like anything about the image, is it appropriate to say "this image is unsuccessfull or no good, sorry, it's horrible ect ect"?
Im confused, I think we're in agreement here, unconstructive negative comments have no place here, but a crit is in its essence negative, sometimes I tire of seeing "nice job" "amazing", its doesnt mean anything and it doesnt push us further. Im not trying to flame you I think I should have been clearer when I said 'harsh comments' i meant negative feedback not insults.
Having tact is the key.. look up the def if u want.
Im ok thankyou, no need to be facetious now...
Hehe, I keep thinking to myself, "I can't wait to post my first images." You see, I AM one of those despised architect designers who is starting to freelance some renderings on the side. When I post those first images, it will read, "Be as harsh as possible, I'm a glutton for punishment. When I need a pat on the back, I'll send it to my mother who will in turn put a smiley face sticker on it and hang it on the refrigerator." :) But as with anything else, sugar and sweets will get you more/further in life. Tact will serve you well. As a side note, the sun coming over the trees, is that all done in post? Kind of a nice surreal flavor to it - would like to know how you did it! it s nice, what i feel needs more work is the lighting and colors, anyway compared to "Afgri blg" it needs alot of work

Sanchez: So what if you don't like anything about an image? refuse to crit it? i like to think if you don't get any response you must be doing something wrong, art is subjective IMO. If we dont want harsh comments i guess we should label our threads *appreciation only*.. see how many responses one gets.

We don't need an *appreciation only* thead, that is not what I meant, crits are the point of this forum and they are very valuable, but its better in my opinion to be tactful, and professional when giving crits... and of course the artist is wise to listen and accept crits.
Spot on my polar friend :) Client chose the angles. They are the practical (get everything in) cameras - I think that's only something people who do this for a living will understand, clients wanting as much as possible in camera.
erg and dont call people trolls without understanding what a troll is...i got called a troll on here a while back just because I said I wasn't James Camerons biggest fan..... it stifles debate and discussion and says alot more about the accusers IQ than the accused.
BVI: love your lighting and that late summers mood, i can smell the bbq's. My only crit is the POV, i wish i could be looking further into the that interesting curved concrete wall entrance, however i know with clients they want to see everything in one image; getting their moneys worth i guess. Sanchez:
It's much better to say: "I like this and this about you image, but suggest changing this and this to improve it further"
