The Palazzo delle Assicurazioni Generali is located in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence, Italy. Tasked with a redesign for a hotel, I honored the original architecture with materials local to the Tuscany region of Italy and forms that complement the design of the historical structure. Volumes that mimic the architecture of the building continue inside and wrap their way around the interior from the lobby into the more intimate spaces such as the guest bedrooms and suites, creating a harmonious feel throughout the hotel. The accommodations are sophisticated and comfortable, designed to evoke a feeling of old-world Tuscany - lay your head down and slip away from the bustling city into a tranquil retreat where you can lose yourself.
