The rendering was done with Vray for Cinema4D. It was the first time that I used vray environment fog. I rendered it as extra pass.
All plants are 3D objects and all of them self made. For people and animals I used billboards.

Concept:

Research units have been created to provide access to some of the worlds most remote locations. They are airlifted into place and stay for a short time before being air lifted out. This coupled with their design enables minimal impact on the environment.
This image illustrates a unit located in an otherwise inaccessible location and the crew benefit from the earth doing what it does best.
