Rock House - Context Study Illustration

I don’t really know who’s design this is but it inspired me for creating this visual for a house in the middle of rocky forest. I’ve been trying recently to work on my illustration skills during the concept phase to better translate my design ideas that’s why mastering the tools is important.
I started by sketching roughly my vision for such illustration, then making a simple model render with Vray then most of the work was done in photoshop for the ground textures, atmosphere and environment. Firstly, I started by having the appropriate mountain structure for the front part. Then going into the forest ground cover which was multiple layers over each other in order to get it visually right and make it in harmony seamlessly with the mountain. Then for the trees I spent alot of time trying to make some sort of a forest. However, I ended up cropping most of it and changing the aspect ratio of the photo as it didn’t look right to me. Then for the most important part of such visual, I spent most of the time on the back environment trying to create the required depth that would exist in such location. I always work this step in black and white as it gives the true structure of the illustration depth. Lastly, I made a simple color grading for the whole image and actually this is one of the few times that I like the colored version of my illustration more than the black and white one. I have to mention that lots of this thinking strategy I learnt along the years by studying Alex Hogrefe's work; it’s truly inspiring and I advice everyone to go check it out.
