Single-Family As-Built, Palo Alto
BIM Company Alterpex was entrusted with a comprehensive project to document and digitize the existing conditions of a single-family home. Using state-of-the-art technology, the team conducted precise 3D laser scanning to capture every detail of the property’s current state. This meticulous data collection served as the foundation for creating a highly immersive 360-degree virtual walkthrough tour, also known as a digital twin. The digital twin allowed stakeholders to explore the property remotely, providing an accurate, interactive representation of the home’s layout and features.
In addition to the virtual tour, Alterpex delivered a robust 3D Revit model, ensuring every structural and architectural element was documented with precision. This model was paired with a complete set of as-built plans, offering a reliable and detailed blueprint for the homeowner and renovation team. These resources not only simplified the planning process for future renovations but also minimized the risk of costly mistakes by providing accurate, real-world measurements and data.
Alterpex’s comprehensive approach ensured the client had the tools necessary to visualize their renovation goals, streamline communication with contractors, and confidently proceed with their project.

About 3D laser scanning
3D laser scanning is a high-tech way to capture the exact shape, size, and details of a space or object. It uses specialized equipment to shoot out laser beams that measure distances with pinpoint accuracy. These measurements create a digital "point cloud," which is essentially a map of millions of data points that reflect the real-world environment.
This technology is widely used in construction, architecture, engineering, and more. It helps professionals create accurate 3D models, detailed blueprints, and other essential data for their projects. Unlike traditional methods, it’s fast, reliable, and reduces the chances of errors.
