House in Rugged Terrain

For my latest 3D modeling and rendering project, I set out to pay tribute to the iconic Casa de Vidro (by Lina Bo Bardi architect), by reimagining her timeless architectural design in a rugged desert setting. Using Autodesk 3ds Max for the detailed modeling and Chaos V-Ray for rendering, I aimed to capture the house’s adaptability and its striking beauty in a challenging environment.

In most renders of this house, I noticed that the Casa de Vidro was always portrayed in the real-house-geo-location and that meant in an environment with dense vegetation. So I decided to do something completely different, by placing the house in a raw desert/rugged environment.

This project allowed me to explore the harmony between Bo Bardi’s architecture and the raw desert landscape, brought to life through the realism of V-Ray’s lighting, material detailing, and stunning textures. It was an exciting journey that demonstrated the power of these tools to faithfully render an architectural masterpiece in an extraordinary context.
The house spans 700 square meters, standing 10 meters high on stilts to elevate it above the desert floor. Its minimalist design, with 30 meters of width and 23 meters of depth, is complemented by large windows that allow natural light to flood the interior while showcasing panoramic desert views.
