Dark Bathroom

Personal project, exploring the idea of a dark bathroom. Inspired by the essay In Praise of Shadows by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki, wherein he describes his preference for early 20th century Japanese bathrooms over Western styles, with their brightly lit, super-clean look. Bathrooms should be place for calm, rest, and solitude, he argues. With that in mind, this bathroom is stripped back to only the essentials and designed to envelop the user in natural materials to evoke the sense of forests and caves.
