Used 3ds Max 2013, Mental Ray, Forest Pack Pro, xfrog, and Photoshop. The most challenging part of the project was texturing the limestone wall from scratch to match the local quarry materials, as limestone colors vary greatly between regions in the U.S., let alone the world. The unique foliage of the Texas Hill Country, which Austin just borders, consists most commonly of Texas Cedar (Juniperus ashei), Live Oaks (Quercus fusiformis), and infrequently, the Texas Red Oak (Quercus texana). This design intends to promote and reinforce the regional building materials and character of the Hill Country while blending with a modern aesthetic and passive solar house design principles.
