Crystal CG
BBC
3ds Max, VRay, After Effects
Hi! I thought I'd try and submit something from one of the more interesting projects that we have done recently!
This project was done in conjunction with the BBC's R&D team. If you want a bit more nitty gritty on it, there was a nice blog post written up by the BBC's R&D team on their blog which can be seen .
Effectively, it was an experimental way of moving from one court to another. Instead of the usual wipe, we hoped to "pull out" of the camera in the stadium to reveal our CG version of Wimbledon, with the live game still being projected into the venue. The camera then moves to the next venue, with live game being projected into the venue, also. We had some teething issues that we hope to rectify for next time, but all in all it went rather well. Here's an example , which actually shows a few of the problems we had.
The visual style we went for - which is slightly at odds with the live-footage that is popped in there - is that of a little Playmobile style toy land. All the people in the crowd and around the park have little green plastic stands on their feet, there's heavy depth of field and nice glossy, reflective walls!
As I said, it was an R&D project, so the final application here is somewhat work in progress, but we're quite happy with the visuals we managed to create here. (For what it's worth, this was produced entirely in our London studio). If you have any questions, please ask!
