Meri-Rastila Competition

It’s exciting to see the project by Arkkitehdit Davidson Tarkela Oy, which we helped visualize, recognized with second place 🥈 in the competition for a new school and youth center in Meri-Rastila, Helsinki.
The concept combines tradition and modernity, preserving the original building. The design keeps the iconic neutral facades, enhances them with added windows for improved functionality and natural light, and introduces new, practical structures to the site.
We created three exterior renders and one interior scene to highlight the project’s standout features.
The aerial view captures the infusion of color and energy into the otherwise monochrome urban landscape, while the human-level renders zoom in on the courtyard. This space preserves natural rock formations and greenery, seamlessly blending them with a new multifunctional roof area—a playful, elevated playground that redefines the idea of shared community spaces.
The interior render brings warmth and vibrancy to life, showcasing an environment designed for children to thrive. Soft, ambient lighting interacts with natural textures like wood, reflecting both comfort and practicality.
