We were approached by the founders of the restaurant "Subzero Sushi" to open a large restaurant in Moscow. We found an exciting space with a veranda, panoramic windows, and a basement. The challenge for this design was to combine the understated elegance of Japanese aesthetics with the minimalism of Scandinavian design while simultaneously incorporating the rugged industrial charm of Berlin.
We presented the project to the client for the first time using a 3D model and VR glasses. That allowed us to study all aspects of the design in detail. It was imperative as the space is in an old building with narrow passageways that are difficult to assess based on visualization and plans alone.
To ensure optimal functionality and atmosphere, special attention was paid to the organization of lighting. In addition, the combination of large panoramic windows and a year-round terrace allowed us to fill the interior with enough natural daylight, creating a bright and cosy atmosphere for guests throughout the day.
Downstairs a compact but bright izakaya bar is in the basement. Inspired by Tokyo's bustling nightlife, red neon lighting and dark finishes have been applied to create an intimate and energetic atmosphere.
As part of the project, I designed a considerable amount of custom furniture, such as partitions, sofas, sinks and tables.
The implementation of the project exceeded expectations. Now it has become one of the most popular places in the centre of Moscow
