Project Pure Bliss: how the phenomenon of 3D visualization integration helps students with their pet projects

After experimenting with various methodologies discarding models that sound good in theory but are far from practical (when, once again, we had to "slice" waterfall into sprints instead of Scrum – oops!) and countless iterations with idea boards filled to the brim, the name of our project is destined to become prophetic.

For the client, who will move one step closer to their goal. For the audience, who will eagerly consume the content and make full use of the Finnish startup’s creation. And for us, the executors of yet another dream!

A potential player in the Finnish app market

Great things begin with an unstoppable, almost manic drive to create something valuable for people. When you’re young, ambitious and full of energy youthful idealism and visions of a carefree bright future push you forward to the point where you can’t waste time on useless reflection. In the long run, self-exploration without action becomes incredibly costl – much more so than the budget that Antti, a former student of the University of Oulu managed to save up for developing a mobile app for designers (or those who aspire to be).

You might say it sounds mundane and unoriginal. But we’ll stand by it, counting the numbers our client expects to see after the app’s launch in the App Store. And those numbers don’t show download counts – they reflect the market share percentage in Finland.
Investing in a so-called "utopia" from the perspective of outsiders and critics, while simultaneously believing strongly in the project yourself as its creator, isn’t so dull after all! As an experienced 3D visualization studio, we fully support the noble intentions of our young client, because we ourselves dream of the unattainable, the elusive and the seemingly impossible – like speaking as experts at a TED Talk.

The essence of the app – foundational knowledge

The app that Antti is developing will serve as a guide for aspiring designers (or anyone who appreciates grandeur and beauty). It will feature an extensive range of both simple and complex options all centered around augmented reality capabilities. For instance, users will be able to "try out" a newly purchased IKEA blanket on their bed to see how it matches the surrounding decor or experiment with the placement of a custom-made bed to maximize space. Beyond the interactive elements, the app will also include a library of popular, forgotten or even extinct design styles, each with a brief overview of its key characteristics.
To avoid the hassle of sifting through free 3D modeling tutorials on YouTube or wasting time on courses from popular studios, Antti turned directly to our studio with a request to visualize apartment. Recognizing the constant evolution of styles, which gives birth to "hybrids" like soft minimalism, Antti decided to enrich his educational archive with the currently "trending" Scandinavian interior design.

Naturalness – the core of scandinavian motifs

The overall concept of our interior design for the Finnish student revolves precisely around this principle of naturalness. We focused our skills on conveying a refined blend of color palettes with furniture made from natural materials.
Neutral, beige-like tones cover 80% of the space, accented with touches of gray-olive hues that complement the overall scheme. The warmth emitted by wooden elements perfectly complements this subdued yet bright setting. The bases of chairs, tables and cabinet fronts are symmetrically distributed around the perimeter creating harmony and unity throughout the apartment.
Simplicity and functionality, along with subtle "nods" to classical design elements (such as moldings or herringbone parquet flooring), define the character of this space. It feels airy, thanks to the absence of clutter and the presence of panoramic windows that allow light to flood in making each room feel more spacious.

Kitchen-living room

On the combined "canvas" of the kitchen-living room, the material of the kitchen backsplash and island stands out from the otherwise neutral "noise." The subtle veining of the porcelain tile not only blends in aesthetically but also serves as a practical choice that won't need replacing even after a decade.
In the future, artwork or floor lamps will become the ideal targets for testing the client's mobile app before its launch. Imagine the thrill of swapping out or selecting the perfect decor element in real-time! As a designer, you'll save countless hours on replacing or choosing the texture of a rug that just didn't sit right with the realtors before listing the property on the agency's website. This all speaks to the effectiveness of 3D visualizations, which are now used in every aspect of life.

Bedroom

The element that adds character to this space for relaxation is the panel behind the bed's headboard painted in a familiar hue. This pattern ties back to the overall concept of the design. However, what deliberately breaks away from this uniformity adding a touch of chaos are the photo frames in various sizes. Their playful arrangement on the wall brings movement to what would otherwise be static. In other words, the principle of mixing the seemingly mismatched – another hallmark of Scandinavian style – is evident in these details and they only enhance the interior.

Bathroom and shower

A separate paradise captured in the 3D visualizations, where the connection with nature is more present than anywhere else. Did you notice? The emerald-colored tiles, vaguely reminiscent of moss are a brilliant choice for a high-humidity room. They harmonize with the “wooden” tones of the cabinets, while the golden accents – like the irregularly shaped mirror – add a touch of elegance to the space.

3D visualizations in a specific context

The integration of technology in the design field is a necessity. 3D visualizations help blur the line between the imagined and the real allowing the end user to interact with and "feel" the interior of a future apartment with their eyes (in a figurative sense). This is not just a tool that increases the likelihood of a client's positive response to any design solution, but also a valuable guide for the professional helping to reduce errors in projects.
For our client, Antti, who dreams of revolutionizing the mobile app industry, interior renders will serve as a gateway for aspiring designers and enthusiasts. These visualizations will help them build a solid foundation of knowledge as strong as concrete. The app's features will enable users to experiment, test layouts and visualize changes in various styles. With the success of the launched app, we hope that the Pure Bliss project will inspire a new generation of designers and reinforce the importance of 3D visualization in the digital age.
